Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer private classes/training?

Absolutely! We'd be happy to schedule a private training for your group, team, business, or even family. For private classes, a one-time, non-refundable fee of $25.00 is required to secure a training date and time.

Do you provide all of the supplies?

Yes! We provide all required training supplies and materials, including, but not limited to, CPR manikins (adult and/or infant), AED training devices, first-aid training supplies, gloves, and CPR breathing barriers. We also provide access to our resource area to participants who complete our training. The resource area has electronic guides, documents, and reference materials.

Where does training take place?

We do not have a dedicated training space, which helps us offer more affordable training rates. We rely on our clients to provide a safe and comfortable space for training. The space needs to comfortably accommodate all participants (with chairs) and allow them to practice their CPR skills either on the floor or at tables. The space also needs to offer audiovisual (A/V) access so that we can show required videos and training resources.

What do we need to provide?

The participants!

How long does training take?

It all depends on the type of training (see below). The Red Cross stipulates minimum time requirements for each training session, and we tend to add a small buffer to allow for discussion and questions.

It probably doesn't need to be stated, but the less content being covered, the shorter the training. For example, adult CPR/AED blended learning is approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes, compared to adult and pediatric first aid/CPR/AED blended learning, which is around 3 hours. For instructor-led training, the duration increases to 2 hours and 15 minutes for the first option and 3 hours and 30 minutes for the second option, respectively.

We are happy to provide you with estimated training timelines during the planning process.

What training formats do you offer?

The Red Cross offers two training formats: blended learning (BL) and instructor-led (IL).

  • Blended learning combines online learning with in-person skills sessions. It offers flexibility, allowing participants to complete the online modules at their own pace before a shorter in-person skills session.

  • Instructor-led training is conducted 100% in-person in a classroom setting. This format is more structured and can be tailored to the group, reducing possible accessibility barriers that online modules may have.
